This project required furniture inventory and planning services to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) for the relocation of their District 7 Headquarters to a new 175,000 sq. ft. facility in Mankato, MN. The project included the inventory/assessment of existing furniture, design of open office environments, and layout of modular furniture systems. The goal was to develop an interior furniture plan that would provide a functional, efficient, pleasant, and cost effective working environment for MnDOT employees. . The office area within the new building is approximately 45,000 sq. ft. It was estimated that 55% of the space would be open office and 45% would require free standing furniture systems. The design team came up with creative ways to achieve MnDOT’s goal of reusing as much existing furniture as possible.
