In this role you will be performing all technical aspects of the interior design process from project setup to construction administration generally as part of a defined project team. You will be involved in leading the development of design concepts, assisting in design efforts, participating in client presentations, data gathering, space planning, documentation and expanding on your design foundation in healthcare while working on a variety of other market sector projects.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with architectural and interior design teams to develop the interior design direction, translating complex programming requirements into schematic design concepts while developing detailed documentation focusing on improving and enhancing the patient experience.
- Provide thought leadership of interior design development on assigned projects, including research, strategic planning, interview participation, and partnering with the architecture team.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary teams.
- Research materials and concepts to advise the design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development and documentation.
- Utilize past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of design and improve the built environment.
- Help coordinate the design work of others to ensure an integrated and cohesive design solution.
- Work within determined project schedules to prioritize tasks and coordinate the completion of documentation required from the initial design phase through final project completion.
- Review material submittals and conduct on-site observations.
- Coordinate interior design data gathering and implement document preparation.
Qualifications Required:
- The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or related experience.
- A minimum of 10 years plus experience in commercial interior design with at least 5 years of experience in healthcare planning and design projects.
- Must demonstrate a proven track record of successful design solutions with complex, multi-phase projects.
- Work toward professional licensure and/or certification; LEED AP and EDAC encouraged.
- Proficiency in Revit, and Enscape, with an emphasis on 3D presentation
- Development of Interior design planning concepts, materials, and furnishings requirements specific to healthcare projects – including industry-specific concepts, practices, standards, and principles.
- Experience delivering successful projects which comply with relevant building, FGI, ADA, construction standards, and other related regulatory requirements.
- Additional software expertise preferred includes Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.

As a Designer Level 1, this role will primarily consist of the following responsibilities:
Design Concept Development:
- Assist in the development of design concepts for a variety of clients/projects, including healthcare, corporate, office workspace, industrial, self-storage, and mixed-use projects.
- Produce documentation for designs from presentation through construction drawings.
- Prepare and produce design and construction drawings using Revit BIM software.
- Provides creative design support during the conceptual and schematic phases of projects.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other team members and consultants to advance design concepts.
- Follow projects from concept to completion.
Participating in and Contributing to Client Projects:
- Assists with documentation of master planning, site planning, building design and interior architecture.
- Assist Project Managers in coordinating the efforts of outside disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical and other consultants into a cohesive set of design documents.
- Review and document building codes, in conjunction with project partners, to ensure that designs comply with legal standards.
- Ensure timely and effective delivery of documentation and presentation materials to ensure project goals and objectives have been satisfied.
- Assist in the construction phase activities by reviewing shop drawings and creating a master log of the project submittals, as well as answering Requests for Information (RFI) and issuing Supplemental Instructions (SI) and preparation of change directives.
- Work with more senior design staff members on architectural design concepts to build knowledge and contribute to our learning and growing environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an architecture or architecture-related program with internship experience in architecture and design.
- Ability to support multiple project activities simultaneously.
- Construction administration experience is a plus.
- Proficient in 3D software programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Lumion and other graphic platforms.

Design Concept Development:
- Develops and creates design concepts for a variety of healthcare clients/projects, including inpatient facilities, specialty clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities and medical office buildings.
- Produces designs from presentation through construction drawings.
- Prepares and produces Revit and some CAD drawings to create and document architectural designs.
- Provides creative design direction during the conceptual and schematic phases of projects.
- Collaborates with the firm Principal, Project Manager and other team members and consultants to advance the design concepts.
- Opportunities to see projects from concept to completion.
Managing Client Relationships:
- Interface with clients and lead client meetings to build long-term relationships.
- Works closely with the client on design issues and determines creative architectural solutions.
- Maintains ongoing communication regarding project schedule and budget with owners, clients, developers, and project partners.
- Preparation and review of contract documents with Project Managers/Principals.
Managing Client Projects:
- Assists with master planning, site planning, building design and interior architecture for the development of design documentation.
- Coordinates the efforts of outside disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical and other consultants into a cohesive set of design documents.
- Reviews building codes to ensure that designs comply with legal standards.
- Ensures timely and effective management and delivery of designs and plans to ensure project goals and objectives have been satisfied.

- Mentors design associates and directs staff members on architectural design concepts to foster a learning and growing environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Architecture degree with at least five years of architecture and design experience with an emphasis in the healthcare industry. Master of Architecture preferred. Licensure in the State of MN strongly preferred or in the process of obtaining an architectural licensure. At least years of experience managing multiple project activities. Experience with site planning and medical planning. Construction administration experience required. Ability to design with, and proficient in 3D software programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Enscape, Lumion and other graphic platforms.

Qualifications Required:
- The successful candidate will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited program, having completed their third year.
- Has basic understanding and application of design principles, practices, and concepts.
- Ability to utilize 3D software programs, specifically Revit is required.
- Experience with Lumion and/or Enscape is preferred.
- Willingness to be mentored through the process of challenging projects.
